His Excellency General the Honourable David John Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Hurley

Special Olympics Australia is honoured to have His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret'd), the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia and Mrs Hurley serve as Patrons. As Patrons they take an active role in promoting our movement, celebrating staff, supporters and volunteers, attending events and hosting groups at Government or Admiralty House.

Peter Overton

Respected journalist Peter Overton joined Special Olympics Australia as our first ambassador in 2001 and today he is a regular at events. Peter says, ‘Special Olympics Australia is a great organisation that makes a difference to the lives of so many people. I'm always inspired by the achievements of athletes, amazed at the skills of my fellow volunteers and proud of the great sponsors and donors that share their support. I’m pleased to have found a rewarding role at Special Olympics Australia and I hope more people do too.’

Daria Varlamova

Daria Varlamova is the 2021 Miss Universe Australia, was one of Yahoo Finance's Top 21 Health and Wellness Influencers for 2021. Daria holds a Bachelor of Commerce and is a passionate about her work with people with disabilities. “My mission as a Special Olympics Australia Ambassador and Champion of Inclusion, is to do my part in ensuring that the next generation of children and adults with disabilities can grow up and thrive in a country where they are included and valued,” - Daria Varlamova
