October 2020

With one year to go, the countdown is on to the 2021 Special Olympics Junior National Games!

NAB has been proud to continue our support of Special Olympics Australia in 2020, in what has been a challenging year for many. We’ve worked closely with the team as they’ve developed new and innovative ways for athletes to take part in events, and we’re excited to be the Major Partner of the upcoming Virtual Games in Victoria.

Next year’s Junior National Games in Launceston is something that we can all look forward to, and it will be a wonderful opportunity for athletes from all over the country to come together to celebrate inclusion, sport and friendship!

At NAB, we are so proud to be the Presenting Partner of the Junior National Games, and we are eagerly counting down the days alongside you.

I know the rest of the team at NAB are excited to get involved by volunteering on the ground as the “NAB Game Changers”. On behalf of everyone at NAB, we look forward to seeing you in Launceston in 365 days!

Combining the transformative power of sport and a holistic approach to athlete well-being enables Special Olympics Australia to support a better life for people with an intellectual disability.

Special Olympics Australia strives to ensure that everyone living with an intellectual disability can participate in sport. Our dedicated network of volunteers creates accessible sports training, coaching and competition opportunities that allow people with an intellectual disability to reach their personal best – in sport and in life.

  • Weekly grassroots sporting, recreational, social and health activities in local communities around Australia.
  • An environment where people with an intellectual disability can develop physical fitness, build self-esteem, demonstrate courage, and make friends.
  • Competition pathways ranging from weekly club events, to regional, state, and national games, culminating in the Special Olympics World Games.

NAB are the Principal Partner of Special Olympics Australia until October 2022. NAB has a unique opportunity to change the conversation and attitudes towards acceptance and social inclusion in Australia. This is important to NAB’s customers, employees and the communities they work in.

NAB are proud to partner with Special Olympics Australia to support more than 711,000 Australians with an intellectual disability. The partnership will provide more funding for athletes competing in sporting events across the country leading up to the 2022 National Games in Tasmania. NAB are committing extra resources to help promote the events, and a dedicated employee volunteer program.

Through the partnership, NAB will also be the Major Partner of the State Games, which happens in three states every year, as well as the Presenting Partner of the 2021 Junior National Games and the 2022 National Games.

NAB are committed to living their purpose of backing the bold and helping these young Australian athletes reach their potential.
