Athletes with Intellectual Disability/Autism to Compete in India

29 August 2024 | Special Olympics Australia is delighted to announce the team that will represent Australia at the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Invitational Games in New Delhi, India.  

From 18-22 November 2024 – in exactly 80 days – 8 Australian athletes will proudly wear the green and gold to compete in two sports: bocce and tenpin bowling.

The event has been specifically designed to offer more mature athletes (30+), and those who have never represented their country, the chance to experience the joy of being part of a travelling team.

According to Pierre Comis, CEO of Special Olympics Australia:

“Special Olympics Australia is delighted to be part of the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Region and we welcome the increased opportunities to bring major competition experiences to more athletes in the region. Thank you to our Sport and Coach Programming Partner, Gallagher, for helping to make dreams come true. We have eight very excited athletes training to do their best when they represent Australia for the first time.”
