Money raised from fundraising activities and/or donations raised through your online fundraising page will be allocated against your levy payment as long as it has been processed and received by Special Olympics Australia.
Special Olympics Australia has provided you with your own online fundraising page, where your supporters can make donations directly to you. This online fundraising page can only process a donation. A non-donation payment should be made as detailed on the Payment Options and Payment Slip (included).
Donations can only be accepted via your own online fundraising page. Once credit card payment is processed and completed, a tax-deductible donation receipt is then generated automatically. Donations of $2.00 or more are tax-deductible. A donation is tax-deductible if the donor does not receive any direct benefit from the donation (eg. you and your direct family member receive a direct benefit). If your supporter in doubt we recommend they seek their own independent tax advice as to whether their claim is tax-deductible.
If your supporter gives you a cheque (this is not our preferred option), the cheque should be made payable to Special Olympics Australia. Send the cheque as detailed on the Payment Options and Payment Slip (included).
Money raised from raffle, sausage sizzles or other fundraising activities
Money for our Athlete Levy may also be raised from raffle, sausage sizzles or other fundraising activities run by yourself or your Club.
If the fundraising activity is done by you, the funds raised are to be deposited directly to Special Olympics Australia. You can use any of the methods outlined on the Payment Options and Payment Slip (included). Just include a description of the fundraising activity and your SOMS number. Your SOMS number is on your Letter of Offer.
If a fundraising activity is run by your club, the funds raised are to be transferred to Special Olympics Australia by the club. Please ask your club to email firstname.lastname@example.org to do the transfer.
Authority to Fundraise
An Authority to Fundraise can be distributed by your Special Olympics club or directly from Special Olympics Australia.
There will be no refunds on donations. If an athlete fundraises above and beyond the target, only the funds paid from his/her own pocket (excluding the deposit) can be refunded and other fundraising monies will be used to assist other athletes on the team.
